The Beech is perfectly hardy but
we never could make much out of it
some way it will not grow. The Scarlet
Maple starts slow but grows rapidly
after is has been cultivated 2 years

We Hope the plants will all
prove satisfactory.

You western men all seem to
be afraid of the Hemlock. Don't
they suceed well when smal plants
are obtained from Eastern Nurseries
We used to think they would but Hemlock
from the woods are difficult to manage

The large Hemlock we send you is
one our boys picked up for you. We should
cut off 1 or more of the last years
growth & shade the first season.
