a change going on for the better, [shortly?] it is
time, but surely. Three years ago this
spring I bought a few evergreens of you. they
were (with two exceptions) the first nursery grown
trees we brought here, now there are many,
and but for the hard times, many more
might be sold this Spring. There is also
some improvements in the architectural
taste of the county, and the Lord knows
there is need enough of it - Green temples
for farm houses and an attempt at
picturesque Gothic villas on high treeless
[illegible] praries will occasionally offend
the eye of the true artist, yet eavery year
the people are learning something, and
I hope the next generation will some
what redeem the reputation of the
present.

I have just finished paying for my
home and am ready to pass I think
