Skaneateles N. Y. Dec 15th/ 59.
John A. Kennicott
Dear Sir
Yours of the 2nd Nov. came duly to hand; and today I have received yours of Dec. 9th, contain ing six dollars 30 ($6.30) in full for one bushel of apple seed.
In regard to the pay for the seed I sent to your son Charles; I am in no hurry for it at present, and shall not need it before next March
I have a few bushels of apple seed yet to dispose of. If you have any inquirers for good apple seed, please direct them to me
I think I dried your seed more than was necessary, which made them look so shrunken. In sending off seed early it is necessary to have them pretty well dried, or they injure if delayed on the road, in warm weather
Those Hemlocks have been grown three years in the nursery. I have only a few not more than

perhaps not as many as 300, 300, and as I want to clear the ground next Spring, I offer them for $3. per 100.
Yours Very Truly
Geo. S. Root.
