Friend Kennicott After this long a delay I write to you enclosed you will find four [underlined] dollars being the amount of Sales of Tulips. I have tryed hard to Sell the entire lot which you sent to me but I could not, a great many wanted some Tulips but they could not get the money and those persons to whoem I expected to sell a good lot would come with, 25 cents [underlined] instead of a dollar or more. but I will keep trying to sell

all that I can though [seal] I do not know how I will succeed. But if I can get the money by any other meanes I will send it to you. I had the misfortune about two weeks ago to have my Kitchen [underlined] burnt [underlined] with all of tis contents and a fraction of the Tulips Bulbs [underlined] got distroyed with it. It was with great difficulty that my house was saved the Kitchen stood apart from the main building, my loss was something wver 100 dollars which is a very heavy loss for me these hard times. I have not been able to get any money for you or my old acct. [underlined] and I will have to beg further

indulgence at your hands, pledging you my word that I will use my best efforts to get the moeny for you. And as for Snyder I do not think that he is disposed to do what is just. I saw him a few days ago and he says the trees are not healthy, but I think that he comes a little too late with that kind of a plea He thinks that he ought not to pay for them Now I will do just as you say, if you say for me to Sue him I will do it and it shant cost you [underlined] a [underlined] cent [underlined] I would have sued [underlined] him before this if you had just said the work. I can collect it off of him. I will note

tell you something new it is this since I last wrote to you I have been admitted to practice [underlined] Law [underlined]. I gained a knowledge of the Law at home of nights and when I was out of employment (which was the greatest part of last Summer) So you see that I have not been Idle [underlined] all the time. Now if there is any bisiness that I can do or have done for you I will take great pleasure in doing it for you. You will please write to me and let me know what is your pleasure in Snyders case and I will attend to it at once
