The Sp. Corymbosa is Evidently what
I got from [Ellwangert] Barry, some 10 years
ago, for Elm leaved, or Ulmifolia. It is
described in Genesee Farmer, for 1850, by
Patrick Barry, then [Hortl ]Edn. under this
name -- if I remember some other nursery now
objected to it at the time -- said there was
no such Sp. but I don't think Barry
ever took it back. C.J. Ryan wrote an
article on it against B. in G. Farm that summer.
I think B. was unable to show any authority
for his name. It is a very fine Sp.

In haste
Very truly
[Jno. C. Leag.]

J Hookes & Bro Wed Chester Penna write
"We never had Sp. Corymbosa -- always
thought it synom with Ulmifolia" --
First He describe both that Corymbosa has "round leaves
& large heads of who fl. in Aug." Ellw. & Barry do not name
Corymbosa at all.
