Thursday Morning
The Grove Dec 9th 1858

Dear Brother mine -

I recieved a very short
letter from you this morning, but
small favors are thankfully received,

Seems to me you don't write as
many letters as you used to, what is
the reason? I hope you think of us
all often.

The weather has been extremely
cold for the last two days, we
have all been shivering about the
house and have scarcely ventured out
at all. Notwithstanding the cold
however the folk from The Folly were
here yesterday. Mr. Brislot, their teacher,
came with them, he is a curious
kind of a man, I can't say that I
admire him particularly, but I think
he will prove a good teacher for
them. He believes in strict discipline.
