I have deylayed writing to you expecting every day to get a chance to send the specimens but as yet I have not though I expect to send them in a few days

I could not send them by Father becaus he had to go by land through MO

You wish to know how many bones I sent I sent one last July I sent it to Chicago and in a few days I recieved a letter from you telling me to send it to Washington I then wroat to the Express Agent at Chicago and toald him

to send it to Washington and that is the box that you found when you got thair and the onley one that I have sent

I wish when you write you would tell me the name of the allcran I sent you some in the Box I will send you what is cald the Kansas Monkey in the next box the time for catching snakes is over for this year but next year I will have plenty for you I have got two Indians that is going to help me I want to get a full set of skins this winter I had the skin of a Pelican that was shot near here but it spoild

before I could get it stript I have to pay two dolors per galon for alchohol here and then it is not worth anything I lost one Lug full of spcimens with the blamed stuff but I have plenty left yet Bob I think of going to Pikes Peak in the spring not to get gold but to get specimens what do you think a bout it write soon and give my respects to the Friends of natueral history

Father got a letter from the Sec of the Normal School at Bloomington wishing me to Collect for them but I will not do it for it was

you that first encouraged me and it would not be right for me to collect for straingers Sam
