happy fellow when I reach home
again - I half dislike the notion of going
to washington so soon but 'tis too good a
chance to loose and after a few days of
pleasure at home I must be off.
Maybe you think this is a wild
uncivilized place - not so - you can here
find as high livers as any where else
This is a head depot of the Hudsons
Bay Co.
Remember me kindly to all the folk
- love to ours
Affectionately
Bob
Ill perhaps send this letter to Pembina for
mailing

This was exciting for me to read as this letter was written by Robert Kennicott. He mentions here his invitation to go to Washington (the Smithsonian!) and how even though it will give him only a few days at home, he doesn't want to miss the chance to go. The letter was to Charlie, his slightly older brother.
