enough gin I get there.

I got only three letters after I
left St Paul – one from Baird,
one from father dated Aug July 25^th.
enclosing some others – and one from
home of Aug 5^th – The latter
Cavalier mislaid and only found
a few days since – so ‘twas almost
as good as if just rec’d direct

Ill try to write again from
Sekirk settlment before the
mail goes which will be Sept 15^th
– they have a monthly mail between
here & Crow wing.

I find lots of strange things
up here and want to get & learn
more ere I leave –

I wish I could be at home
to night but wishing is no good.
