Indiana he was about three weeks -
& intended to have returned home by
Chicago and spent a few days with
you - but took a severe cold, & was so
much afraid of being more unwell - that
he took the nearest route home.
Mr Pease, is still attending his business in
the city - but returns home every day -
Carrie has not been very well through
the Summer - but she is now better - and
is learning to cook - & do general house
work - which I consider a first-rate
medicine for young ladies -
Our flowers have not bloomed as well
as usual this season - Still we have had
enough to supply our city friends with
numberless boquets - This morning - a gardner
from the city came out to see if I could
give him a few flowers – for a wedding
said he had cut every thing from his
own grounds - I told him to take
