I had intended to
answer your friendly letters of
last spring long ere this but
to tell the truth I have not had
time I know this is an old & worn
out excuse. but this spring
for the first time I can make
it with truth. I went on the
farm about the 5 of April &
since that time I have not lost
a day nor a half day before to day
this being the day of Dr Fosters
Inauguration I thought I must
attend it. I have done what I
could to gather specimins for
your cabinet meeting with very
little help from others indeed I
have had no schedules of information
to give them how to preserve the
