I have just received a Circular of the Northwestern University Soliciting collections of Specimen in Natural history and being desirous of aiding if possible in the inves -tigation of our Natural History I have concluded (together with my Nephew Mr George O Boardman) to make a collection during the coming season and wishing some further instructions I have taken the liberty of addressing you on the subject. 1st can you inform me where I can obtain a good work on Entomology what author would you recommend and where can it be purchased. ... 2nd is there any work published on taxidermy containing instruction for preparing stuffed specimen can you inform me of the best manner of preparing by Arsenic. Will the Society from time to time give us the Analysis of the specimen we may send them correct us if our Alalysis of species be incorrect send us when desired the name of species that we are unable to analyse and by that means enable us to make arrange our collection correctly we are but tyres in the Science of Natural History but are desirous of learning and of improving [illegible]
