Esteemed Sir

Your letter of Feb'y 2nd inst was duly recd.

Have delayed answering much longer the we intended. As our Peach pits have been put out in sand to freeze, we cannot get them out to fill your order until we have a thaw. Have had none since the receipt of yours But as soon as we can get at them, will forward right on as directed. _ You are correct the Old Kentish or Pin Cherry will not work on the mazzard, but whould think the Duke or Morello would stand your climate.

If you wish, thinkwe could furnish you some fine "healthy

with thanks for your kind not accompanying the desired nursery Catalogue I regret not to be able immediately to send for any trees or plants, as there is at present a possibility I may have an opportunity to sell out the farm I now inhabit. As soon as cir cumstances will allow me to de[termine?] whether to sell, exchange [paper torn away] [rem?] ain in my present [paper torn away] ace I shall write again.

[Cousone?] Charles I was to Chicago and would been glad to of seen yo but I could not go to your place Ameey was in chicago but [we?] could not find each other I am Selling Trees this Spring I wuld like furnish yo with Strawberry plants I can furnish yo with Nancy Seedlings plants that have been fruited and all of male plants taken out So I can [illegible] them perfect plants I can furnish yo with Sevrel other varieties if yo have a lot of cheap Strawberry I can Sella lot of it here, I have all the apple trees

Dear sir

Yours of 7th came to hand It is strange when my order has gone I find that I was mistaken in the amt money it was but three dollars

I renew the order perhaps a little changed

Nectarine Early violet 2 50 cts Perkins seedling 2 50 cts

Quince Large orange 1 25 cts

Double Flowring Peach 1 25 cts $150

for the balance ($150) two of the best bearing varieties of strawber you have If it is too late for any of the above named trees send some hardy ornamental tree or vine in the place of them I hope my first letter has reached you by this time

Wilmington April 12th 1858

John A & Chas Kennicott Edqrs

[Just?] being desirous of getting one hundred and fifty apple trees of a suitable size to set this spring and having been two or three times sold by purchasing of Pedlars [running] through the country all most all of which have failed induces me to address you hoping I may have better luck next time will you therefore let me know if you can supply me with the above number of good trees of good size and quality also one Dozen of the different varieties of Cherries and one dozen of different kinds of dwarf and Standard pear trees and Twenty Evergreens fit to set in my yard near the House as the time is at hand for setting your answer is Early solicited.
