The Cry for Justice: A Ant An Appreciation

I want to say a few words to you to night regardi one of
the most powerful & inspir books that has ever come to
my notice. It is entitled "The Cry for Justice" an anthology
of the literaturey social protest. It is Edited by Upton
Sinclair with an introduction by Jack London. It contains
excerpts fr seel selected of the world renowned writers on
arcelogical & industrial problems with translations
from 25 languages & coverin a period of five thousand
years. The names of the men & women whose burning words
adorn these well might 900 pages place the stamp &
seal of authority on this remarkable work. They are the
names of men & women of all ages down to the present time
who as Jack London has said were givers & servers, seers
& humanists. They were and are men & women who
were emancipated from the small, the puny & the petty
& conceived of life in not in terms of profit but of service.
I don't know of any one book of this nature that has
given me greater inspiration, filled me with greater
enthusiasm & enlarged to such a a greater degree the whole
horizon of life than this book. Clear eyed & unafraid

As compared to his prior written sermon "Faith & Hope" dated October 1900, this document shows a deterioration of the author's writing. Spelling is sometimes incorrect. Letters are not as well formed; this is especially noticeable regarding verbs ending in "-ing." I have transcribed the document as closely as possible to how it was composed.
