Men of clear conscience & firm character, men whose hearts
bleed for a brother of the same flesh & blood, whose very life
has been well nigh crushed out of him by a degenerate and
desparate gang of army officials, may yet buoy themselves up
with the thought that God's right hand has not waxed short,
that the God who saved rescued our ancestors from the flaming fire
& w sword will from death, destruction & pestilence, will
also save their decendants, will prevent the good name and
fair fame of Israel from being dragged and tarnished in the
dust of infamy. Not only ourselves but the combined forces
of civilized humanity raises their voices in pious supplication
to Him who controls the destinies of nations, to look down
with pity upon that too loyal a son of French soil, upon that
faithful & affectionate husband, upon that loving father, upon
the man who has been ruthlessly & fiercely robbed of
happiness and honour, of love, of wife, of children, of
everything that is nearest & dearest to him in life, aye
of everything that renders this life worth living. Again
the golden virtues of faith & hope enter our fainting
hearts to refresh us with the conviction, that sooner or
later, Truth will out and force recognition; that innocence
