Dickenson Census Indices: Occupations of Afro-American Families on Staten Island, 1840 - 1875

In 1981, Genealogist and Historian Richard B. Dickenson published Census Occupations of Afro-American Families on Staten Island, 1840-1875. In the course of his research, Dickenson compiled these indices with information from the 1855, 1860, 1865, and 1870 State and Federal Censuses. One index is organized alphabetically by last name. The other is organized by town. They are a part of the Staten Island Museum’s Directories Collection.
