Saturday
17th. The washing has all been sent
away early to day, the Laundress
went out, and Miss Holland also.

Sabbath
18th. Mr Gully brought two women
from the breakfast this morning
Maria Hogg and a Mrs Curtis they
were much too old for one to take
in without an order, so we told
them to call on Tuesday afternoon.
I felt sorry to refuse Mr Gully, but I
told him the Committee did not
think such old offenders fit to place
amongst young girls.
Revd [Reverend] Mr Mills held morning service
I went out to morning service.
Miss Holland went out this evening
The Laundress returned home to tea.

Monday
19th. Nothing of importance has occurred
to day.

Tuesday
20th. Harriet Penketh was very
quarrelsome this morning the Laundress
told her to go out of the Laundry which
she refused to do saying it was a public
or Government Laundry and that she
did not care for the Laundress or Matron
and she would not be put out,
She has been acting in defiance of all rules during
