Thursday. 27th

Friday 28th When Jane Harris saw Mrs Macintyre she hid herself in the w. closet (bolted herself in) and when Melinda was sent to fetch her, she refused to come, said Mrs Macintyre knew her brotherinlaw Hugh McMaster and she dreaded him knowing she was in such a place as the Refuge. Its to be feared she will do no good here setting all rule at defiance, thereby shewing [showing] a bad example to others.

Saturday.
29th Louisa Williams wanted to come in 9 oclk she was told to to come on Teusday [tuesday]. Jane Harris has been very troublesome, wanting to go out, refusing to attend prayers, and when asked to sew days " I am too nervouse [nervous] - this evng her husband called to pay the 10/-

Sabbath.
30th All quiet and comfortable, the new books given out to read & Through the kindness of Miss Lister of "Denham ?Court" they had Oranges after dinner they have also a nice plumb [plum] cake given to them by "Lady Young" to tea.
J. Harris said she would not rise from her bed, untill [until]
she had leave to go out of the Refuge. The Matron told her that none of the inmates would be allowed to carry food to her bed room even now she had recovered, that whilst she was ill, one of the inmates sat up with her a Doctor sent for [?] from Mr Watson to wait till the Doctor came, her dirty clothes washed & [?] she would conform to the rues of the home in which she had received so much kindness.
