No 627 Sergt Cromie reports that he (Cromie) has been unable to obtain any Information from any of the old residences of this district as to aboriginal names of places with their meaning. The Sergt now returns the names of two places in this District with their meaning. as follows viz.

Police Station Hill End 12th. September 1899 Sergeant Ritchie no. 4709 forwards herewith a list of Native Names of Places in the Hill End District, with their Meaning or reason why the Names were given, for the Anthropological Society of Australasia. The Sergeant got an old Aboriginal to Interpret the meaning of the words and he has no doubt but that the information given is correct.
