Re Aborigines names and meanings, Cooma sub Districts
I beg to forward six lists, containing
Aborigines names of places and
meanings.
Each officer in charge of stations
has been requested to collect as
much information as possible.
But it has been difficult to obtain
reliable information; The old blacks
are dead, and old residents have
forgotten that which they have heard.
I cannot say if the naitive names
and meanings are correct
it is difficult to spell some of the
"soft" names by sound, particularly
when expressed by europeans.
