Heard in the morning that Miss
Rachel McM. was dead so as soon
as I got thru cooking I hurried
down & found poor Miss M. the
quintessence of desolation. It
was heartbreaking. Lovely day on top
of 'bus going across Waterloo Bridge
to see St Paul's on one side & West-
minster on the other, but coming
home over Westminster Bridge
too hazy to see St Pauls.
Crescent moon above Big
Ben. Miss Rachel died on
Mar. 25.
