Sat 26 [Friday 25 crossed out]
Got to sleep after 1.30 a.m & waked at 4.30 by milkman & waited for ice-man who did not come till 6, so no more sleep. Wasted, idle, day utterly exhausted but too desolate to sleep. Mrs A. in to telephone. I ran message for Hackett. I telephoned to Thelmas Uncle Gus & Lena & wrote to Theo and did little else. Sat 26 Transpose this & 2 following days - they are put in wrong places.

S̶a̶t̶u̶r̶d̶a̶y̶ ̶2̶6̶ ̶ Sunday 27
A really heavily warm day till after 9 pm when a S. Buster [southerly buster] arrived. I telephoned Marjory & Muir. Frank R. telephoned me. He saw Bill Harney at the Circus yesterday. I tried to telephone Alice Prichard but she was not in. Irrigated the garden & the hose really burst. Sunday 27.

S̶u̶n̶d̶a̶y̶ ̶2̶7̶ Friday 25
Rose at eight & did the chores & at ¼ to 10 set off for Lena. Met Ruby at Central & took tram & ferry to Valentia St, Bus to Stanley Rd where Lena was awaiting us. Ruby & I walked around the magnificent site of the old place. At ¼ to 4 set off in car for Thelma. Uncle looking fine. Phyllis & family, Mrs W Perryman & family - 16 in all sat a long table in lovely verandah room. Jack M. drove R. & I to Cheltenham & I got home before midnight. Christmas day - transpose.

20° cooler than yesterday and uncomfortable to me. Mrs A in to telephone & to be cheered up. I telephoned Alice Prichard. Delys telephoned me. Finished up the dark plum jam I started on 23rd Some lovely large plums on the young tree grown from a cutting near Mrs Coates's out flats.

Cool day. Had a telephone talk with Margaret Trist. Rang A&R & found B.D. away probably till 10th. Acknowledged more of the cards & wrote some notes in addition.
