June 1953

Monday 15

Beautiful sunny day - a bit nippy. Went to Carlton to shop & to butcher to order meat. Prepared for Rex & did a bit in journal. Had a nice fire & Rex brought with him a Mrs Beryl Walker wife of a friend. Anniversary of Mother's death: I was relieved to have them. Gave them biscuits, hot tarts & plenty of buttered toast & 2 kinds of honey for supper. Rex told me Alice Fairbairn was killed by a motor cycle recently - a horrible shock. What will Kate Baker do without her. I got to bed before 1 a.m.
