Miles Franklin pocket diary, 1916-1917

FRI. JAN. 7 1916 Baby camp in morning went to bed slept like log all afternoon and did not get up till 9 next morning when Alice brought breakfast.

SAT. JAN. 8 1916 Busy day. Sent kookaburrah story to Blackwoods. Wrote letters. May Meggitt returned from Newport

SUN. JAN. 9 1916 Worked in room all day In evening went with Meggits to hear Dr Orchard preach

MON. JAN. 10 1916 Worked in morning & in afternoon took Mrs Ussher & Miss Champion to hear Bernhardt in Les Cathedrales & to Corner Hse. for tea after & came home

TUES. JAN. 11 1916 Worked until 1.30. Had dinner & went to bed for rest of day.

WED. JAN. 12 1916 Worked till 1.30 Miss M. & Miss R. came home I went with May M to Lewisham to get old mug & then came home & pottered.

THURS. JAN. 13 1916 Baby camp routine in the morning. Wrote a bit in afternoon

FRI. JAN. 14 1916 Work in morning. Rest in afternoon & in evening had dinner with Miss Champion Mrs Carritt & her son also there. Home very late.

SAT. JAN. 15 1916 Went to Violet's wedding at 12 at St Stephens & to Luncheon afterwards at Hotel Windsor. came home & had a bad head ache very rare

SUN. JAN. 16 1916 Queen's Hall concert in afternoon with Meggitt girls & then took them to tea, and I went on to Mrs Dryhurst afterwards. Miss Waymouth there. Home very late.
