It is strange this returning
to the old place – I have been
today to call on Mrs Lesley &
my thoughts wandered all
the time to the old old days
and I missed dear old Aunt
from her accustomed corner.
How changed all seems to me
I drove opposite Vineyard
& saw it for the first time
since I left it a bride –
ah me ! much has come &
gone since then. & God only
knows what my future is
to be, my present is full of
care – but of care ful – happiness
I am so glad to have heard from you
& give my kindest love to yr Mother
