Friday night March 24th 1826

My dear Thomas
It was as we all expected the
Archdeacon arrived the day after you left
Parramatta I cannot discover whether he is
displeased with you or not I received a
letter from Mr [indecipherable] to-day wherein he says
"[humanly?] speaking it is a pity you did
not return to Bathurst [recently?]" My Father
tells me he understands you are to go
to Port Macquarie again which is a
circumstance I can hardly reconcile myself
to think of it yet. I think God has now
[put?] me to the test whether I was sincere
what I once wrote you that I would
rather even live at Port Macquarie if I
thought it was the path of duty in
preference to any other place without
his blessing and I think I shall have
[indecipherable] given me not only to be resigned
