My Dear Sir
I think the best answer I
can send you in reply to your Note
of the 5th Inst is to forward you the
enclosed reply to my application in
your favour as Successor to Mr Tanner
strange to say. I have heard nothing
from Mr Tanner, and it was only on the
receipt of the Archdeacons letter to me, that I
became aware of the actual vacancy. I was
intimately acquainted with your Father in
New South Wales - and when living at Geelong
both myself and Mr Faircloth were equally so
with your Sister and her Husband, Dr Hope.
We shall only be too well pleased to have
