Maryborough, Mar. 8/1875

Revd Mr Hassell,
Brisbane

Dear Sir

Your Telegram & letter to
hand & in reply can only say that I hardly know
how to act as I have "no presentation
board at present" at least none
that the Congregation as a whole
would submit to, as a congregation
we have not [indecipherable] the Synod
although about 30 members did so.
The last board elected were Mr. South, Mr
Faircloth & Mr Davidson & I am
of opinion that the Congregation
would insist upon having a Voice
in electing the Clergyman.
As far as the Church Wardens are
concerned we have not yet

done anything. I have heard that
some are trying to get Mr Creyke
here. I have heard also Mr
Blacks name mentioned but
we as a Congregation have not
yet done anything & will not
do so until after the Easter
Meeting, however I will
let you know what is going
on & if there is a chance for
you. I will do what I can.
I believe Rev [indecipherable] lay between
Mr Black & yourself, that
is if Mr Turner insists upon
going away. I would like to see
him stay another year, he would
then be able to leave as with a clean
sheet.

I have given you my ideas unreservedly
& confidently & I hope you will treat
