Believe me, my very dear Friend
I deeply and truly sympathize with you
in your trying affliction it is a great trial
to part with a Parent; but what a comfort
it must be to your mind, to think he has
landed safe on that happy shore -
"where not a [vane?] of trouble rolls" -
"Across his peaceful breast" -
we little know my dear friend, what we are
to meet with in this vale of tears but we must
be resigned to the will of Him who orders
all things for our good, and our Heavenly
Father
gives us strength equal to the day -
it is he alone can impart true consolation
and comfort he is well as yourself [indecipherable] blessed
with pious Parents numerous prayers have been
offered up in our behalf and I trust they
will be answered and I hope in the great
day of the resurrection none of us will
be found wanting I have just been
reading a favourite Poet with who it I am
much pleased and I think on this mournful
occasion it suits the character of your beloved
Father, it is as follows
