Friday 12 March 1819. Went with a young friend
to Llandovery where I remained until Monday
the 22nd. After receiving much attention from the
friends - Saw the small school on Bells system
which pleased me much.
20 April Went to (indecipheriable) lead mines and descended
to some depth under the earth. I could not help feeling
for the Miners while it was an occasion of thank
fulness that I was not doomed to work there.
15 May received letters from home that gave me
much satisfaction being answers to the first
letters I wrote from England.
Saturday 29th May 1819 Went by the way of Aberayron to Llan
saintfreid (=Llansaint ?) where I spent the Sabbath following much
to my satisfaction. Monday 31 Went to Aberystwyth
to the Devil's Bridge & to Havod (=Hafod) and returned to
Llanstafraid (Llansantffraid?) a journey of upwards of 50 miles, tolerably
well pleased with my tour. The scenery was (indecipheriable)
the Devils Bridge beautifully romantic and
well worth seeing - Havod (=Hafod)is a magnificent
Building amidst an infrequently(indecipheriable) (indecipheriable)
(indecipheriable) country.
