Wednesday 6th Jany 1819 Went to a Clerical
Meeting at Llangathen heard the Revd Herbert and
Revd Jones preach. These meetings generally
give me fresh ardour for the work of the
ministry and make me long to proclaim our
Dear Redeemers Gospel, at the same time I tremble
at the importance of the work. The Lord prepare
and send me forth in His own due time and
manner. Went on to Tregaron to the Revd [indeciperable]
who knew Mr Marsden where I received much
kindness and attention.
Febry 20th This day twelvemonth I landed at
Gravesend not with that ardor and zeal & love a
Christian might be expected to do after being absent
from his country upwards of 20 years - I have much
reason to Bless my heavenly God for all his mercy
and truth towards me highterto - I dreaded the
labour of learning the Languages now I can read
my Latin Testament with tolerable ease and hope
the Lord of His infinite mercy will enable me
