65 Parramatta April 27 1803 ?

Dear Madam I once more sit down to drop you a line, as we are always exceedingly glad to hear from you, it may give you the same pleasure to hear from this part of the world. Last Easter Sunday I conducted my church at Parramatta. This Building proved a great comfort to my mind, as I now can [Profess?] divine Service in a [indecipherable] recognising the [indecipherable] of Almighty God. At Sydney there is no place for public worship & I fear will be none for a long time to come. 67 dead he is taken & I am left on 3 or 4 th of Nov 1813 the as the poor little fellow was going on board with some food for his only companion a little dog the boat [indecipherable] from the side of the Vessel he fell in & found a watery grave far far from his native home his widowed mother & unconsciously bereaved relatives. His remains now found & interred in the Church yard of that place . where no stone tells the 'name & no friend drops a pitting tear & where with his of all claims & [indecipherable] disposition & [indecipherable] his body lays until the resurrection of the dead. At this distance of time I feel the force of those words "Work while it called today de. When I heard of his death those words came very forcefully to my mind "He is taken from the evil to come describe a sailor boys life but I do hope & trust that was made as some good thing was [indecipherable] him he will be found among the chosen of the most high for where much is given much will be required & where little loss will be expected

My Dear Son Jas Mullen This is with my tender love & blessing to you after a long & unhappy time of not hearing from you of almost 3 years I at last to my great surprise but yet unspeakable comfort received your letter dated December 2 1812 from a distant part of the world - Dear Child when I saw Botany Bay mentioned I thought my heart would have burst till I read further. But, my child how came you to leave Mr Gladstons employ & to bind yourself an apprentice to such a distant part of the world. You do not say how long you are bound for or may I flatter myself with the hopes of ever seeing you again but now I fear my hope is all over
