[Page 221]

Bishop of Newcastle Mr Cowper likes
him very much, he went to Newcastle
Sunday week to meet him.
I am now staying with Mrs P King
and, feel myself quite at home with
her, although I never [saw?] her until I
came to [indecipherable], but she puts me
much in mind of our dear Sister
and particularly the other day when I
went with her to see a sick[?] woman
(Mrs Masters who is in a consumption)
I could not help thinking of the
time when Kate used to go and
see Mrs Holden. Kate wrote to me
the other day, not much news, then
she tells her all her letters are sermons
I do not think so and intend thanking
her for it while I am here.
Miss Hope sent me a note also
[next page]
they are all quite well, the Dr rather
to [too] much work, and baby has a tooth
through. Kate does not think we shall
see her until next year for she
promised to stay two, and if she comes
now the Dr cannot come with her.
We had Mr O'Connell here yesterday
the one that was lately married
he went to look after some black
fellows who have been doing some
mischief at the [indecipherable - looks like Manning?] but the
rivers were all so high he was obliged
to return. I have had two rides
on horse back with Mr King, one
was to where they wash the sheep
a very pretty ride, and to see the
water now dashing over the dam, mak-
ing a beautiful waterfall would
make one almost dubious when

[The following cross written]
rain follows me where ever I go for though I have
been in Stornish[or flourish?] nearly a fortnight there has only been
two or three fine days.
I think it is time for me to return home
but Mrs King will not hear of it, he says it is
no use coming such a long distance for so
short a time and they are all so very kind
to me that it would be my own fault if I was
not happy.

I hope [indecipherable] and Elizabeth Kelly[?] are quite
well give my love to them and also to the others
I some times think dear MaMa cannot be quite
well for I have not heard from her and she
always writes when we are from home Papa has
been very good he has written me four letters I
ought not to ask for more, but I should like to
know if dear MaMa is quite well With love
My dear James Yr affec Sister
