Arkstone Forest March 6th 1838
My dear James,
I was very sorry to hear by your papa's
letter that you had lost one of your dear little sisters, and
that you were all suffering from the same complaint that
called her away, but I hope by this time you are all well.
We are happy to say that we have not had the complaint
up here yet: if it please God I trust it will not reach us.
Sisters Lizzie and Mary are learning to draw, and I think they
both do very well for the short time they have been at it. Will you please
send by father he drawings which you were kind enough to
promise us. I have learnt a piece called Brutus' Harangue on
the death of Caesar which I sometimes speak at nights, when mother
