introduced into Society in your parts
He is of respectable parents who are now no more
and is I am informed pro-
perly recommended to the Governor, Lieut Bell and
several other Gentlemen. As he was
coming so near I have taken the liberty of intro-
ducing him to you & think from the little I have
seen of him that he may prove an acquisition
to our Society in the Colony - Whether his expec
tation will succeeed time alone will tell. I wish
him every success should he prove deserving.

Our old acquaintance is not can not be forgot
for you the friend of my youth; the joyful
smile has covered my brow - for you my Brother
in adversity & sorrow my bosom has felt the
friendly pang For your smile I endeavour to
raise the heartfelt prayer that grace, mercy
& peace may be afforded in every time of your
distress & I knew not formerly what we

now know - time was when in the morning of
our days we delighted in each other's company and
partook in the silly round
of boyish amusements - time is when we are
looking forwards with an anxious eye concerning
the affairs of this life while its sorrows at times
almost appear to overwhelm us - & the time is comeing
when we shall have done with these cares, these
troubles of this way by laying down in ye silent touch
- but may a brother in affliction encour
-aged by friendship which once entwined
our hearts together ask - shall we meet on
the other side of gardens into waters with joy &
gladness, there to behold the animated countenance
of a mother - endearing manner - of a Father -
united by the closest of affections - my heart
grows warm must I refrain - have we built
upon the sure foundation the rock of Ages -
is our love to our Saviour forwards and do we
use all the gifts of providence as wise stewards.

the original transcription has text that does not show on my copy. I started to review and add to this, but fear I will ruin the original done by Peterm, so I have stopped.
