Dear Mr. Barclay,
It certainly has been a long time since I last sat down to write you. Jo tells me that you are no longer at Stanford - that you have gone to Washington. I was certainly glad to hear of it. From all reports of the current confusion down there, a good man is more sorely needed there than he is even in the Army.
Speaking of the Army - it has certainly scattered the old bunch. Reports filter back - one of them being the tragic death of the Pete [Jove?]; but it is rare to hear from them directly. I did hear from [Kave?] though. He is being sent to Cornell for some sort of special training in connection with his work. Unfortunately

Since Jo did not know what your job was - only that you were leaving Stanford for Washington; you will have to give me all the information. I don't suppose you will be at all lonely in Washington. I have had several bulletins from Stanford in which they mention the number of Stanford professors who have gone there. I hope though that they aren't all that dull law school group.
Well Mr. Barclay, I have rambled along and said very little. I hope you won't be too [long?] straightening out the mess in Washington, to drop me a line.
