Donald B. Tresidder, President Office of the President Stanford University California

Dear Sir: In tardy response to your March letter to alumni in military service I have a few comments pertaining to my case.

I took the Physical Therapy course at Stanford and have been working as chief Physical Therapist with a General Hospital in France since January. When I am released from the Army, I feel that I will need a refresher course in Physical Therapy. If Stanford offers such a course, I would like to take advantage of it.

I think that one quarter of refresher course covering the general field followed by one quarter of specialized work and clinical practice would be adequate. Such a program should be designed to bring us up to date on all developments in Physical Therapy which we have missed and also

view standard [techniques?] some of which we may not have had an opportunity to use and have therefore gotten "rusty" on. I would also like to have time in the "refresher" program to take course which may be entirely irrelevant to Physical Therapy. Since graduating from Stanford I have felt many gaps in my education. There never seemed to be time to take many subjects outside my special sphere, and it would be gratifying to have the opportunity to take a few courses in music and art appreciation, languages, etc.

As far as housing accomodations are concerned, if the University has listing of approved off campus residences as they have had in the past to help post graduate students, I think most of us would be satisfied. I believe many of us in military service will welcome the time when we can be free of barracks life, rules and regulations.

I have no suggestions on the extra curricular programs. The pre-war program was satisfactory as far as I was concerned.

The Alumni Review has been coming regularly and is always read with great interest. I have no changes other than a new A.P.O. to report althouh within a few months I will probably be in the CBI or Pacific Theatre. At this time I am in Nancy, France still busy taking care of men injured in the last battles of the European War. We are also acting as a Station Hospital and receivepatients from a wide area around Nancy.

I hope the few comments I have made pertaining to my particular field will be of some use to you.

Sincerely, Eunice S. Wallis 2/ Lt. Pt. M933 173 Gen Hosp A.P.O. 513 o/o P.M. New York
