Conclusions:

1) This winter would've been a disaster without Bob, and his friends.

2) Even with the less than inspiring times, at least I had something to do.

3) But I better protect myself against next winter. I want to develop presence where the weather is not so dismal.

4) Point is that I'm very tired & uninspired in Seattle from Nov - Jan.

5) Maybe just leave for November & December '84.

6) Enjoying Bob's friends was not easy. So I should send a card to Bob: "I couldn't have made it through the winter without you, so I feel so attached, but now you needs someone who can be there more. So I will let go, and with winter passing behind, I can. We always did have good timing. (Thanks for a great winter) Love & kisses & champagne glasses clinking - Ric

And it's LENT till my birthday, the day before EASTER. And then it's two weeks till CDP Exam. And then as soon as I can regroup, I'll loosen up socially again.

ONLY TWO MONTHS.

This doesn't mean I won't travel after April 1. But it should be clear to me that California is not the place. Since I want a gay community, the only possibilities are SD, LA & SF.

Anti LA

"GOING TO CULVER CITY TO SEE PAT & DICK." YUK! CRAZY PEOPLE EVERYWHERE JORGE, RUSSELL, AARON, ARTURO, BOB DEC TOO COMPETITIVE IN BEAUTY / WIT. "GOING TO THE BEACH" YUK "JULY AND AUGUST" YUK. "NO COMPARISON BETWEEN LA & NY " - MIDLER "GOING TO THE THEATRE" NO FOND MEMORY. SO SPREAD OUT - NO COMMUNITY. NO CHARACTER. NO HEART. NO SEASONS. NEVER MET ANYONE AT STUDIO I; TOO 8709

Anti SF

NOT FUN TO LIVE IN. TOO GAY. NOT REAL ENOUGH. TOO CRAMPED. NO BEACHES. TOO CLOUDY. NO HOT SUMMER. NO SEASONS. DOESN'T HAVE ANY OF LA'S OR SEA'S STRONG QUALITIES

SAN DIEGO

Too remote. Too far south. Hard to ski. What to do Sundays. No seasons. Too many old folks & marines. It has never really grabbed me. Black sheep of Califonia cities. Not prestigious

If it weren't sunny, I wouldn't go there. [insert] And I learned from Fab '83 trips, LA & SF can be dismal too! [/insert] Only part I've loved is O. C. and I don't want to live there anymore because it lacks gays. All this means I am totally Anti-California. There's not part that I would move to.

That's quite a realization. And this means I should have no trouble finally transferring my driver's license & Auto Club membership.

But Seattle is also tough. It has a lot, but it's fact that 1) the winter weather makes me lazy 2) the people are uninspiring
