Dear Folks, 16.1.60
Boy this was an exciting and exhausting
day. The map shows the old (from
medieval times) inner city here
and dotted lines where we'll go
tomorrow. Hope you can make it out.
The old Hollenzollern castle (upper
right corner) is the Jugendherberge
(youth hotel) in which we're staying!
This a beautiful and really old
city, with the old wall almost 100%
intact, moat all around, and all
the towers, ancient houses (several
hundred years old). It's hard to believe
it was flattened in the war, for they
have rebuilt so well (almost all
in the last 3-5 years) It's been biting
cold but wirth it and there's much to
tell. A much better weekend than
in Munich - we'ver really lived it more
(can the age of it better. love George
