STANFORD UNIVERSITY

STANFORD UNIVERSITY, CALIFORNIA 19 Nov. '27

Mr. W. Y. Evans-Wentz,
1671 Tenth Street,
San Diego, Cal.

Dear Mr. Evans-Wentz:

I am sorry that your letter has not had an earlier answer.

I am much interested in the propositions you presented and have discussed them with the Board of Trustees. I hope that I may have the opportunity of going over these with you personally.

We would be interested in having funds for a professorship or lectureship or research scholarships in comparative religion. I think it could be worked out so that a portion of the income of any funds left to the Board of Trustees of Stanford University could be turned over by them to any institution or person designated in your bequest. It is possible that a plan might be worked out so that you could arrange the whole matter during your lifetime, retaining the income of your properties. Naturally I am very much pleased to see your deep interest in scholarship and to know of your School for Research in India.

I shall look forward to seeing you as I note that you are planning to visit Stanford during the coming winter. I trust you will let me know beforehand so that I may talk with you.

Very sincerely yours,

Ray Lyman Wilbur
President.
