My interests thus being as much Oriental as American, I am planning to establish with my worldly possessions in America a trust fund to be known as The American-Oriental Educational Trust. My American estate consists chiefly of income-producing business properties here in San Diego, and is worth from about $75,000 to $100,000. If the School for Research, in India, progresses, and I return to aid it further, as I hope to do. I should provide by will that some part of the income of my estate is set aside for its maintenance.

I wish to put to you this question: Would the Board of Trustees of Stanford University be willing to administer such a Trust as that to which I refer if I provide in my will that a large part of the income of said Trust be bequeathed to Stanford University either to endow a Professorship or Lectureship or Research Scholarships in Comparative Religion? If some sort of affiliation might be established between Stanford University and the said School in India. I am satisfied that such affiliation would receive the hearty approval of the Government of India. It is conceivable, too, that in time the School might secure some measure of direct support from the Government of the United Provinces, India,from whom the land for the Foundation has been acquired.
