Nov -59 Thurs,

Dear Mother & Daddy,

We're sure on a [tear?]. The weeks really fly by. The weekends are actually longer than the weeks. The roof is almost finished. That really turned into a long job. It just kept drinking up gallon after gallon of linseed oil. One more coat the green stuff this time, & we're through. This one should go pretty fast since those shingles are pretty soggy.

The drum is great. Pooh learned what to do with it in just a few seconds. That good old American tin can really echoes. The clothes all fit & she loves them, especially her blue car coat. The playtex pants get plenty of mileage with or without diapers. And while she's [trasing?] around in all those clothes, banging on that drum, we are well fortified with that B12 Thank you for those. They are a good idea during this hectic time

we are having. Did I tell you, the t-shirts all fit fine. That brand must be sized larger. The train ing pants fit fine. She enjoys wearing them, but is not yet con scious of any hoped-for change in her operations.

Pooh is all set for Halloween. We have a great clown suit that Jim's sister made for one of her kids a couple of years ago. We're just going to take her around to a couple of neighbors' houses. Her bedtime comes pretty early, & after a certain point, she doesn't enjoy anything.

Something new has been added! Pooh has chicken pox. It's not a very bad case, not enough fever to bother with a thermometer. Plenty of "poxs" however, mostly in the diaper area & in her hair. We sponge her off with soda water & keep the diaper area plastered with desi tin. Fortunately, we are well supplied with the most ingin ous & expensive not-irritating diaper liners, Thanks to a friend

who finished toilet training her 5th & last child who has an allergy to urine. Pooh isn't very uncom fortable. When she starts rubbing, we hit her with soda water. She sleeps later in the mornings, takes longer naps, drinks more liquids, & looks perfectly awful with desitin in her hair & red spots on her face. She doesn't quite understand why she can't go outside, or why Jim's mother comes here to entertain her instead of our going down to [Gert's?]. She has a ball with "Nangaw" though. The pox came from Gert's youngest, who [rudently?] caught them from a wayward [?]. We thought Pooh might escape, but 2 wks & 1 day after Judy broke out, Pooh produced spots. Better now than when she's in school, I guess.

We really had a good time on Halloween. Pooh looked great in her clown suit she got the idea very quickly. Jim would put her down on the sidewalk, & she'd go tearing up the driveway, dragging her

sash. When she'd get to the door, I'd ring the bell. Our neighbor's really loved it. She looked so cute, holding that big bag, all alone, look ing up from under her clown hat. When we went to take pictures, we discovered that we'd loaned out Jim's flash attachment & had no bulbs for mine, so we used our super-sen sitive film & are hoping for the best.

So far, nothing has occurred to di rupt our plans for Thanksgiving week end. There's quite a bit to be done, first, but there seems to be enough time. I will probably regret the latter statement. I usually wind up eating words like that.

Well, today I have to go down & order more stuff from Sears. Masonry paint & block filler, this time. We're going to paint our ugly cement-lined chimney white. After that, there are a number of things we could do to the exterior as long as the rains hold off. It depends on what the best deals are. Well, to work. Love Marcia also Jim, Pooh & [Jeff?]
