Deb Willson read Erma Bombeck's request to be allowed to have a 'funky' day sometimes,
and not be cheered up ! It is good to have a self-pity bath at times - no'bluebird of
happiness' for her then.

Martha Ligon passed a copy of "Horticulture" with beautiful Spring flowers pictured.

Chris Kolstad read an article about the word 'grosteque' and just what it means. A thing
doesn't fit anywhere, is on the margin of the known and unknown. Her question was about
the picture over the mantle. It was a portrait of Thomas Jefferson Evans, an ancestor
of Caroline's Mother,in the early 1800's. The eyes follow you. He was from Indiana.

Caroline Schauffler read an article from the Manchester Guardian about a tv gardener.
Percy [Thrower?] was a calm and peaceful type and planted rhododendron with a long-term view.
She asked about paperwhite bulbs and was told to plant them outside now. She announced a
"clutter clinic" at Olney library on April 5.

Beth Bullard read from Tom Horton's "Bay Country" about the love of trees. Great old
trees have their own personalities and we love them for it.

The Membership Committee. Mary Lill Moore had talked to Dotty Janney and she had agreed
to be on the waiting list. Elizabeth Ligon was made an Honorary Member, which makes Nell
a full member.

The Sandy Spring Museum. There are still some places for the trip to Richmond. They
need a "sitter" at the Meeting House for the April 30 tour.

Announcements. There is a regional conference on groundwater protection on April 9 at
the National 4H Center.

The next three places of meeting are Nell Johnsen at Homestone on May 5, Chris Kolstad
in June and Jean Ladson in July.

We adjourned to meet with Nell in May.
