1459th Meeting
Deb Willson August 1982

After a tour of Deb Willson's new apartment in
Harmony Halle, we were served a delicious luncheon;
crab soup followed by chicken salad and tempting bran muffins. The
group moved to the meeting room where we were called to
order by Dorothy Weske. Both sets of minutes were read and the
same $76 reported still in the treasury. The next three places of
meeting were announced as Sylvia Woodword's & Joy Shott's in
September at Quaker Lane, Henny Bregliano's in October and Beth
Bullards in November. For her sentiment, Deb recited the following:
This world is not so bad a place
As some folks try to make it.
It's not the world, nor yet the folks
But all in how we take it

Joy cautioned us against buying milk in plastic cartons
rather than cardboard containers for the light penetrating
through the plastic destroys vitamins. She noted that
Highs does not keep the lights on in the milk cases.
Also, the Museum Society has contacted an architect
to check on the structural foundation of the arch
over the Spring. Money may need to be raised for
repairs. Deb heard that weeds at the Spring
were high. Joy will tell Bill Thomas who, with
Willard Derrick's help, has been keeping the
grass cut. She also shared proofs of the
Commemorative plate which will sell for $35.

Betty Ligon shared a poem written by her father after her
mother's death titled "Only A Rose".

Sylvia read Art Buchwald's comic comment on the
current saying, "Have a nice day". Mary Lil questioned
was "why is 'have a nice day' bothersome when
'good-bye', meaning much the same thing, it not?

Lucy Manning read an article from "The
[Wilm] Quarterly" on the cost of raising a
child from birth to 18, which is $36,000!
