Falling Green - 1-5-1933 901st Meeting

After luncheon the 901st meeting of the Mutual Improvement Association was called to order by Margaret Bancroft at "Falling Green" - 1-5-1933 -

The minutes of the last meeting at this place were read and the minutes of the meeting at Norwood were read and accepted.

The Treasurer reported On hand from last report 25.37 Donations for Annals. 1.50 26.87

Federation Dues 18.00 Annals of Sandy Spring 3.50 21.50 Balance on hand Jan. 1 5.37

For Social Service League $1.00 The Treasurer was asked to pay $2.50 which had been voted for the Maryland State Federation Scholarship.

was read and accepted - with approval of a new unit of Sherwood School - containing six rooms for the elementary grades.

Next meeting place, "Ercildoun" at the regular time.

Sentiment of one hostess, Mary Brooke two little verses: and the other Edith Green - a sentiment.

Mary Robison contributed a book in scripture of 1708. There was some discussion of the Brooke Family and the building of Falling Green. The present home was buit by Basil Brooke in 1773 and is now occupied by the sixth generation in direct descent.

Amy Hutton - an article entitled "Farewell to England" - a man's leaving England for the United States tells what he is leaving and what he will meet - all to the disparagement of the United States.

Elsie Hutton's selection advises that the early bird nonsense is forgotten and everyone sleep until noon each day.

Fanny Iddings continued the reading of her interesting letters of long-ago.

Elizabeth Stabler told of sending two baby comforts and one quilt to the Social Service League and their acknowlegement by the League - a nice compliment to the Association.

Estelle T. Moore read of Aunt Maudy from Happy Hollow - her advice being to smile and work hard.
