On December sixth the Association met for the second time at Estelle T.
Moores the always cheerful and hospitable home. After the substantial and delicious
lunch we were well fortified for brain work.

Meeting called to order and Margaret E. S. Jones acted as Chairman. Minutes of
last meeting read and approved and minutes of last meeting at this place read by
Hallie C. Bentley

Minutes of three meetings were read from the old book by Mariana S. Miller.
The April meeting of 1858 met at Blackmeadow and cousin Edith D. Bentley read an
article from the pen of Deborah Wharton of Philadelphia on the duty of economy in
our personal expenses and the sacrifice of our own wishes for show and ornament in
order to be better able to help the poor and destitute who are so numerous.

Report from Mariana S. Miller on Education. On December sixth there is to be
a meeting at Rockville addressed by Dr. Lewis from George Washington University.
On December seventh at Sherwood School there is to be a meeting of the Home and
School Association.

Mary Tilton gave a most interesting Social Service report showing much work
and care and progress. A great many people helped after suitable investigation. An
immense amount of work was done in one month. Juvenile Court work has started and
is to be held on Monday. No judge has been appointed as Juvenile Judge of this court.
Four cases are pending.

The secretary was requested to notify Mrs. Arthur Christie and Mrs. Merill
Christie that they are voted members of the Association.

Mary B. Hutton wrote that she would not be able to attend the Association this
winter and asked that Corrie M. Brooke be invited to come in her place which was
done.
A vote was passed that our annual assessment be $1.25.
We are to meet at Mariana S. Miller on January third.
Our guests were Maggie and Lizzie Bond and Emily Coulter.
The Hostess had no sentiment but read us a very interesting article entitled
"Listen, World!" by Elsie Robinson about Santa Claus. She believes in Santa Claus
herself and believes in teaching the idea to all children. She says there is not
an individual Santa Claus man but there is a universal Santa Claus spirit a
beautiful and inspiring Santa Claus spirit and if you rob children of a know-
