children, deserved the title.

Elma Chandlee had a loving sketch of Eliz.
of Belgium, “Queen errant” but “Queen Regnant”, still
who has been an angel of mercy on battle fields
and in the hospitals, of her stricken country.

Marjorie Snowden told of the helpful short
course for women at M. A. C. Like the pupil at
Dotheboys Hall who first spelled “winder” w-i-n-d-e-n,
and was sent to wash the same, a lecture
upon meats was followed by the carving up of
an entire beef to teach the appearance and names
of different cuts. Marjorie hoped more of us
will take advantage of this inexpensive school
for housekeepers.

Mary E. Thomas gave part of William Watson’s
sonnet in a recent London News, and the very clever
rebuttal testimony of W. J. Lampton in N. Y. Sun.

Hither across the ocean wilderness
What word comes frozen on the frozen spray?

Deny the parentage, but say,
‘Born in the proud midday
Of her large soul’s abundance and excess’,
Is just a leetle off, we guess,
Considering the facts that stand
Around the borning of the daughter’s land.

Sent out across the ocean wilderness
In aid and comfort to that child’s distress?
At Lexington and Bunker Hill
Did mother love and mother skill
