2: To Primary visit and dressing left hand of infant son Samuel, the "little" finger having been completely severed at the knuckle joint except a "thread" of skin and the "ring" finger only having a slight attachment the joint being also involved. The latter I will endeavor to save but without much hope of success, from the fact of the joints being cut into, with an axe that was exceedingly dull, so that the fingers were "bruised off" rather than cut.
