Glen Lauder
14/4/1940 -2-
reader gave us a lively article
on Vitamin B1 which is being
used by the adventurous to increase
growth in plants. The seeds pop
up . His plants grow like weed.
This marvellous vitamin has been
tried, but the final results may
not be excellent. Andrew Adams
has some for sale, but does not
vouch for its effectiveness.
Lillie Stabler offered two volunteer
articles. The first described this
growth of a lemon tree, raised
from a seed germinated in
a dark mine and grown in
artificial light. His office told
of tie writhes of a fig basket, stuck
in the ground in the bank of the
Thames. The Willow is called Paper
Willow, sprouts of this tree, growing
in Va., are still extant.
Lofton Wesley told of a canvas tree
to be used as protection for seed beds
and young plants from insect
pests. He may try this scheme.

Questions.
Margaret Bancroft has seen mole
tracks during during some of this very
coldest weather this winter.

Mortimer Stabler has planted
young native cedars for a wind
break. Will they grow? He got
little encouragement. Cedars do
