Oct. 6. 1925.

On a perfect Sept. day the Horticultural
met at Avalon Sept. 1. A very good representation
of our own members and a number of guests were
called to order by our president at the regular
time.

After the minutes of the last meeting had
been read and adopted, Mrs. Massey, one of our
hostesses and our first reader read a collection
of poems. The first a lovely Autumnal one,
"A vagabond son." The second Van Dykes,
"Salute to a tree," and Kelmers "Trees" were both
familiar, and beautiful as always. The last
selection she said was not Horticultural, it
was called "growing smiles". No, we do not
all grow them, but certainly they are
worth cultivating.

Cousin Emma Stabler read of Dramas being
given in Minnesota to depict farm life etc.

Cousin Cornelia read exerps from
a letter from Cousin Rupert Hallowell in
which he discribs [describes] a wonderful trip which
we had just taken. His discription of the
salt cavern was most interesting. But his
trip to the home of the Tobasco King sounded like
